BOEING 747-100 BRITISH AIRWAYS G-AWNN FAREWELL – Herpa 53485
2020 was not a good year for the “queen of the skies”, the Boeing 747. As a result of the Covid 19 pandemic and the resulting collapse in demand, many airlines radically shut down many types of aircraft, including the now outdated jumbo jets. At the end of the era of the 747 at British Airways, we look back at its beginnings: In November 1973, half a year before the official merger of BEA and BOAC to form British Airways, G-AWNN was the first jumbo jet to be painted ex works with the new company. Even if the “Queen” has flown with BOAC before, this 747 was the first to carry the name “British Airways” into the world. A display stand is included with this particular model.
